The river cools what the day couldn't.

Why NGODUCKE, why now

Ngo Duc Ke is a compact, walkable downtown District 1 street just off Dong Khoi pairing The Workshop specialty coffee day spot with Layla Eatery & Bar and neighboring Ho Tung Mau cocktail bars for the night, a real curated day/night cluster.

1. SOKO Cake Bake & Brunch - Pasteur

This is where the course starts because the morning needs to be light before the heat comes through. SOKO sits on Pasteur, just at the edge of the cluster, and brunch here holds a place between meal and momentum. You're close to the specialty coffee spine but anchored to something substantial. The kind of stop that lets you settle in before the walk.

Crew's note

The ceiling curves like Saigon doesn't.

2. Riverside Park

The park closes the morning because it's where the route finally slows down. After brunch, the riverfront gives you open air and distance, the kind of space that feels earned after sitting inside. You're still in District 1 but the water shifts the rhythm. It's a good place to let the walk finish without forcing another order.

Crew's note

The plaza doesn't ask. Just stand here.

The walk between

From Pasteur you're heading east toward the Saigon River, cutting through the compact stretch that holds the specialty coffee and cocktail anchors. The blocks are short, the cafes and bars stack close, and the riverfront opens up at the end.

  • If it's busy at brunch, the wait runs around 25 minutes. Plan to arrive early or have a backup window if you're keeping a tight schedule.
  • The park gets lively after evening, so the morning visit is quieter and better suited for walking without crowds.

FAQ

Is this course walkable in the heat?
The blocks between Pasteur and the river are short, so you're mostly shaded by buildings until the park opens up. Early morning is cooler, but the route works mid-morning if you pace it with indoor stops.
Can I reverse the order and start at the park?
You can, but brunch spots fill up as the morning moves forward, and the park is better as a finish when you've already eaten. Starting at SOKO gives you more flexibility with timing.
