Le Thanh Ton keeps the heat but loses the rush.

Why LETHANHTN, why now

Le Thanh Ton, District 1's 'Little Japan' strip, is experiencing renewed buzz in mid-2026 as new specialty coffee shops, Korean fried chicken spots, and cocktail bars have opened alongside its established Japanese dining row. It's one of the densest clusters of well-reviewed restaurants and bars on Google Maps in all of Saigon.

1. Eggyolk Coffee

Eggyolk Coffee opens the course in daylight, when the street is still waking and the specialty coffee shops are at their brightest. It's a cafe built around one drink done carefully, and that focus sets the pace for the rest of the route. Starting here means you begin slow, with something warm, before the strip fills in.

Crew's note

The cushions sit low. Your knees remember how to fold slow.

2. Lacham Lounge

Lacham Lounge closes the course after dark, when the cocktail bars along Le Thanh Ton start to hum. It's a jazz bar working with Vietnamese ingredients, so the evening finishes with something rooted in the city. Ending here keeps the route inside the same block, just later.

Crew's note

The moped's been here longer than your plans.

The walk between

The two stops sit on the same stretch of Le Thanh Ton, so the walk between them is short, passing the Japanese storefronts and the newer cocktail bar facades that have layered into the strip. You'll cross the same block twice, once in daylight and once after the neon goes on.

  • Start at Eggyolk in the morning when the indoor space is brightest and the takeout packaging works well if you'd rather walk.
  • Finish at Lacham after dinner elsewhere on the strip, so the bartender can recommend something based on what you're in the mood for.
